THE ESTATE & THE WINERY

ornement
Moulin de Mallet Haute Valeur Environnementale

The Estate

Owned by the COUDERC family for 4 generations, today the estate is passionately and rigourously headed by Julien COUDERC.

The vineyard of Château Moulin de Mallet spreads over the commune of Pujols, a few kilometers south of Saint-Emilion and Castillon-la-Bataille.

The property is located 99 meters above sea level, on quite steep south facing hillsides composed mainly of clay-sandy loam soils over banks of limestone bedrock.

The property covers 45 hectares. The varieties of grapes grown are Cabernet Sauvignon which gives the wine strength, structure and complexity; Cabernet Franc, to balance the tannins and the acidity of the wine, as well as Merlot, which brings roundness and texture.

Production is limited and a lot of work is carried out by hand throughout the year to guarantee a sound agricultural practice that respects biodiversity. The vineyard was awarded a certificate of High Environmental Value in 2018.

The winery

The vat room and the cellar have been completely renovated and are located in the heart of the vineyard. All cellar operations are carried out in accordance with Bordeaux traditions. Modern technologies have been adapted to these traditions to ensure meticulous care of the grape throughout the process, from the harvest to bottling and until it leaves the winery.

Vinification is carried out in accordance with the established method of over-pumping followed by periods of controlled maceration.

Regular tastings are carried out for a strict selection of wines and a production of the best blends.
Vintages are aged in oak barrels for 18 months.
Bottling takes place at the Château. Our own aging cellar ensures proper preservation of the wine once bottled.
